Athens isn't only meant to be admired with the Parthenon in view — it's meant to be run. At first light, when the pedestrian Grand Promenade is still empty and the first glow gilds the marble of the Acropolis, the city reveals a different side of itself. On TourMyRun, a local runner takes you along their routes: the pedestrian ribbon of Dionysiou Areopagitou that curves around the Sacred Rock, the pine trails of Filopappou Hill facing the Parthenon, the shaded paths of the National Garden and the marble of the Panathenaic Stadium, the climb up Lycabettus to tower over the whole city, or the flat, sunlit Faliro seafront along the Aegean. Not a sightseeing coach, not a random jog around your hotel: one hour of running with someone who lives here, at your pace, who knows the right turns, the quiet hour and the right tempo.

They adjust the pace and distance to your level, pick the route to suit the moment — flat seafront to cruise, Filopappou or Lycabettus for elevation, the Grand Promenade under the Acropolis for first-light magic — and share the Athens you won't find in guidebooks. Many of our guides here are running-club members and sports students (SEFAA / school of physical education) who know their training loops by heart. You leave with a real memory — and often a GPX track to run again on your own.
Public, well-known routes you can run on your own — a solid plan B to get moving right away. But the best of TourMyRun is still discovering them with a local who takes you, at your pace.
A paved, flat promenade along the Aegean, a dedicated pedestrian and cycle path out to Alimos marina, dotted with marinas, beaches and cafés. The Athens runners' favourite, stunning at sunset.
Start : Flisvos Marina, Paleo Faliro
The shaded paths, ponds and palm trees of the National Garden right in the centre, extended to the marble of the Kallimarmaro. Perfect for an easy jog or stacking quiet morning laps.
Start : Syntagma Square / Vasilissis Amalias
The pedestrian ribbon under the Acropolis, extended by the pine trails of Filopappou: marble paths lit at night, dirt tracks, a fountain by the Pnyx and an unbeatable view of the Parthenon. Gentle elevation rewarded by the panorama.
Start : Thissio / entrance to Dionysiou Areopagitou
A trail and paths climbing to the highest point in the city, with a 360° view over Athens and the sea. Short but steep — ideal for strength work; you can ride the funicular back down.
Start : Kolonaki, Aristippou Street (or the funicular base)
Your guide is a passionate amateur, not a professional. What you pay covers the organisation and a contribution to your guide's time and expenses — not a commercial service. It's a run between runners, not a ticketed tour.
Only if you want to. Plenty of runs stay flat — the Faliro seafront, the National Garden or the Grand Promenade are open to everyone. Others take on the hills: each listing shows the profile, distance and pace, and your guide adapts to your level.
Usually around 1 hour, but it depends on the run you pick — each listing shows distance, duration and pace.
Yes. Athens guides often offer sunrise and weekday slots — ideal to beat the heat and the crowds, between visits or before a busy day.
Absolutely. If you know your routes by heart and enjoy running with others, you can offer your runs, choose your slots and receive a contribution for your time.
